Portrait commission - Drawing

03 April 2020

I extend my portrait commission portfolio with another delicate material: the drawing. In addition to art photography and oil painting, from this spring on you can also order a portrait as a drawing (pencil on fine watercolour paper).

For me as an artist there is something about drawing that differs from painting. The  creation of the image is taking place in smaller, more intimate strokes and tiny lines. Every hair is created from scratch. The process takes time and is almost a form of meditation. Therefore, my connection with the model is more intimate and full of awareness.

Helmut Newton - The Divine Feminine

12 February 2020

It is an honour to announce that two of my artworks were selected for an exhibition ‘The Divine Feminine’ in FotoNostrum in Barcelona. The two are from my last series  The Revelation where I depicted my studio visitors reminiscing of the Old Masters era. With only a few accessories my random models were transported into past centuries. The intention was to reveal the impact of our history on our contemporary lives.

However, an even greater honour is to participate side by side with the legendary Helmut Newton who has shaped the way women are seen now. I adored his work 20 years ago, when I first saw his work, and I still do now. I am very excited to be selected for this particular exhibition. Hopefully, the isolation ban will be eased by August.

The Revelation

12 December 2019

This private exhibition The Revelation was by invitation only for those courageous models and their families and friends who took part in my Open Studios in September this year. Their portraits were unveiled and revealed one by one making it an emotional and exciting affair.

With only a few accessories my random models were transported into past centuries. The intention was to reveal the impact of our history on our contemporary lives.

Another Revelation was an accidental discovery. Instead of hiding behind their century old roles and masks, these random models revealed even more so of who they are. They allowed, even for a fraction of a second, the glimpse of their inner self.

An HOMAGE to the craft and the skills of the Old Masters (thinking of Dutch and Italian artists) honours that fairy-tale-like time.

20 September 2019

Visit my studio between 20 and 22 of September 2019 and become part of another world ‘Once upon a time’. Cologne artists open their studios this weekend and my Mum and I are taking part in this event as well.

The most courageous visitors can take a seat in front of my camera and become part of my new photographic series ‘Once upon a time’. A HOMAGE to the craft and the skills of the Old Masters (thinking of Dutch and Italian artists) will honour that fairy-tale-like time.

PM me for opening time and address.
